Rayvin Hudson Block: A4 9/26/2018

      1. The painting Las Meninas by: Pablo Picasso is very interesting. It was made in 1957 of oil on canvas. The people in this painting are basic shapes or items that look like faces. It is in a dark room that looks cluttered with windows that bring in some light, instead of the painting being completely dark. I like this painting by: Pablo Picasso because this painting shows his feeling and emotions when he was making it which I feel that since the painting was blue and just dark then he was sad.

          2.Pablo Picasso was able to manage shade of one color throughout the whole drawing. He was also able to make the shapes have faces which made the painting have more value and emotion. I noticed that there was repetition throughout the drawing only in the color. The color was different shades and tints of black. To me the painting truthfully looks like a basement with a lot of clutter of items in it. Picasso has a lot of the formal elements of art included.

I believe that the artist is trying to express sadness or depression because there is only one color used and, there are no bright colors that makes the painting pop that says to me I’m happy or something of the sort. I think Picasso’s message through this artwork was shapes have a meaning and mean something. As some people might only see this as a simple painting with some weird shapes and faces. I see this as the shapes have meaning as well as the color giving meaning showing the artist emotion’s and their feelings.

4. Picasso overlapped some of the artwork which made that more of a focusing point. I believe that there are many parts in the art work where inter related well because it just went together or made sense. It communicates an idea that something so simple or normal could have such meaning. I am kind of moved by this artwork because there is always some meaning when you make something if that be cause of work, thoughts, where you grew up or where you’re from. My aesthetic judgement on this is good work, If I had to rate this on a scale of 1-10 it would be an 8, because it is not perfect but it is way better than anything that I would be able to do.
